Auburn Football could soon receive a much-needed uptick in recruiting for the 2023 cycle with the commitment of a local prospect.
karmello English, a four-star wide receiver from Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama, has set his commitment date for July 2 according to Auburn Live.
English’s recruitment by Auburn has been rocky. He considered Auburn to be a favorite in the early stages of his recruitment, but Auburn fell off of the radar after the dismissal of previous head coach, Gus Malzahn. However, the Tigers have found new life in English, as he has developed a relationship with newly hired wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard.
The relationship between English and Hilliard, in addition to the close proximity of Auburn’s campus and English’s hometown, has been beneficial to Auburn, because English has taken two unofficial visits to campus since March.
English’s increased interest in Auburn has led two recruiting sites to believe that he his Auburn’s to lose. 247sports’ Christian Clemente has given a Crystal Ball prediction to Auburn, and On3’s Keith Neibuhr has given the Tigers a 95.4% chance to land English on their Recruiting Prediction Machine.
In addition to Auburn, Kentucky and Michigan are the top schools that could land English. English visited Kentucky last weekend and is set to visit Michigan on Friday. If predictions become true and English does commit to Auburn, he will become just the third recruit to commit to Auburn for the 2023 class, joining safety Terrance Love and offensive lineman Bradyn Joiner.
